Summary

Since 2000, the United States has spent more than $5 billion on “Plan Colombia”, as part of the “drug war” – 80% of it military aid. This militarization of Columbia has impacted the internal strife in Colombia./1/

Policy Options

The Fellowship Of Reconciliation suggests that the aid to Columbia should be redirected away from military aid and towards general economic and health programs which would reduce the economic dependence of Columbia on the drug trade./1/
