Summary

This bill is an expression of sympathy from the U.S. House of Representatives to the families of women brutally murdered in Guatemala.

Background

Abuse against women and girls in Guatemala is rampant and many females have been murdered. But despite innumerable deaths, the government has taken little action to find the killers or protect their citizens. Thousands of typically 18-30 year old women have been abducted, usually in the city and in broad daylight and raped or otherwise sexually assaulted and are then left for dead.
