H.R. 7081 would end a three decade old ban on U.S. nuclear trade with India. Congressional approval is required to finalize the agreement made in 2005 between the two nations.
The deal grants India the ability to trade with the U.S. in civilian nuclear technology and fuel. Under the agreement's terms, India must comply with inspections of its civilian nuclear facilities. Its military facilities, however, do not apply to the agreement.
